The Journey of Water

April 15, 2022

This quilt is my biggest effort (so far) in my "Celebration of Rain" series. With all that precious rain finally falling from the sky, I was inspired to track its journey from puddle to Pacific. Each panel is a depiction of a place I love: a puddle on the ranch road at my family's coastal farm, a marsh on the east side of the Cascade range in Oregon, pristine Crater Lake, the Eel River as it flows through a remote part of Mendocino County, and finally the Pacific Ocean on the Mendocino Coast.

2016. Approx 90"w x 53"h.
Materials: hand-dyed cotton fabric, commercial cotton prints, metallic and novelty synthetic fabrics, novelty trims, cheesecloth, tulle, Sulky variegated thread
