Impressions of Patzcuaro

April 15, 2022

I spent several days in the Colonial town of Patzcuaro while in Mexico for a month, and was captivated by the niches, sculptures and unexpected little treasures in the ancient stone walls. I decided to put all of them in one wall in this quilt, including a representation of the ubiquitous Virgin of Guadalupe.

2014. Approx 49"w x 63"h.
Materials: commercial cotton prints, hand-dyed fabrics, novelty trims, thread waste, Sulky variegated thread, tulle
