Wash Day on the Farm

This is the view of the back side of the main lodge where I was teaching at a 5-day retreat in northern Mendocino County. It was the underbelly of the otherwise well-groomed summer camp grounds, but the sight of the laundry on the line made the place feel completely like home.

White Village

This is a remembered vision of a long trip to southern Spain, where I was enchanted by the ancient Moorish white villages. All the fabric is hand-dyed.

One Person's Junk...

I was fascinated by the reflections and transparent dimensions in a stack of recycled doors, and challenged myself to see if I could reproduce them in a quilt.

Girona Garden

I relied heaviny on snippets of fabric to give the impressioin of dancing flowers in this beautiful old garden in Spain

Impressions of Patzcuaro

I spent several days in the Colonial town of Patzcuaro while in Mexico for a month, and was captivated by the niches, sculptures and unexpected little treasures in the ancient stone walls. I decided to put all of them in one wall in this quilt, including a representation of the ubiquitous Virgin of Guadalupe.

See-Through

Another vision on one of my hundreds of trips to the coast in the county car…this collapsing barn that I could literally see through. After I made this quilt the barn blew down in a windstorm.

Red Barn with Salmonberries

More barns…in the Pacific Northwest they enhance the scenery around them so gracefully. The fields and fences around this barn were seriously overtaken by rampantly growing salmonberries.
